High CPU Usage on a Dell Latitude E6400

indy18arn Where and how did you get your copy of Windows 7 Enterprise?
What version of Windows 7 does the COA Microsoft sticker on the laptop indicate?
I have ask for some help from some friends to take a look at the posted log.

Yes hello thank you for replying so fast Bear! And I purchased this laptop seller refurbished off of a top rated seller on eBay. And there is no COA tag on the laptop sorry. Like I said I bought it as "Seller Refurbished". But there is a Windows Vista sticker on the palm rest and I can give you the service tag if you want to see the specs it came with from dell. It also showed that the default OS that was on here from dell is Vista as well on Dell's website. And sorry if my post is a little long again just thought I'd be as detailed as possible. If you have any more questions please don't hesitate to ask! Thanks!

Oh that's bad news to hear. For my sake and not to offend you in any way but I hope your wrong. Anyways, also I woulden't post my COA Number anyways. Also, as I mentioned earlier I don't have any COA Sticker. It did not come with one. The only stickers it comes with is a sticker that says Windows Vista on the palm rest and a sticker that says what processor I have. And of course my Dell Service Tag. Anyway I can figure out my COA without the COA sticker?

Also, the version of Vista that came with this Laptop according to the sticker is Windows Vista Business. Which is a good version if I recall.

Unless your old laptop is also a Dell Latitude E6400 with matching hardware, I doubt that will even activate.

We have a couple Dell guys here, I've asked for their input but it probably wont be till tomorrow morning.

Thank you Derekimo for responding to my question so quickly! I'm still waiting on Bear and an admin's input on weather or not my copy of windows is valid and legit or not so I can know what my next step will be. But if it's not legit and not valid, then I guess I'll be installing vista business on here. So I will still be waiting on one of those Dell guys reply on weather or not I can use that disk. And if not what my next step would be in attaining a restore disk for my system. Thank you again for your input. I really appreciate all this support. I'm at my wits end with this machine! All I want it to do is work the way I want it to work. And at this point because of the high CPU Usage, it's basicly unstable. So I will be awaiting more reply's. Thank you again everyone!

You're welcome, how long have you had this laptop?

Does it say on the COA if it's a 32bit or 64bit?

Less then 1 month. I bought it seller refurbished on eBay from a Top Rated Seller. He's been very nice with the problems I've had. He's already partialy refunded my money for other problems. Like the fingerprint reader not working. And office not activiated. So with the fingerprint reader he couldent get it to work so I'm SOL with that. :( But with office he sent me the Key so I was able to activate it ya! Now turns out the charger he sent me will not charge the battery. :( So he's ordering me a new charger that Should charge the battery. I hope. And the original COA sticker says that it was a OEM Windows Vista Business. It does not say weather or not it was either a 32 bit or a 64 bit. But if you want I can give u the service tag and u can check Dell's website.

Well when our experts get here we'll see if your office is genuine too, but that's another matter.

So how did you rate him? The Enterprise is suspect because it is meant for corporate environments.

I'll let the Dell guys chime in on service tag, I'm pretty sure you don't want to post it here.

I was just curious about the 32bit or 64 bit, cause we might be able to find an install ISO.

Sounds like you've had a few problems with this guy, I hope it works out for you.

It can be hit or miss on EBay, I bought my desktop from a guy on EBay.

Well I rated him an A+ because at the time on the day I received it everything seemed okay. But within a few days, it all started to go wrong. Like the fingerprint reader not working. I had to install all of the Bluetooth drivers myself in order to get the Bluetooth to work. And the current drivers are not avaible for my OS currently. So I can't even use the fingerprint reader. So it's basicly useless. I'll admit it would have been handy so I don't have to remember any passwords or usernames. I could have just swiped my finger and been logged on. But it's okay I have a pretty good memory. And he said he just purchased the new charger so I'm awaiting that. The current one I have is a Dell PA-3E which he says should work for my laptop but it is not charging the battery. It does however power the laptop pretty fine. But I always get an error message from the BIOS when I boot up that it is the wrong charger and I should use a 65 or a 60 Watt Dell OEM Charger. I think it's because I think this is a 90 Watt I believe. Too much power possibly? I don't know maybe we can ask the Dell guys about that later. Anyways, that's that.

It is not legal to sell Volume-licensed machines.
They are *supposed* to be reformatted and reinstalled using the original manufacturer's media before resale.
This machine shipped before the release of Windows 7 - and cannot therefore have the SLIC table that it claims to have.
This means that an activation exploit is present
You should demand a full refund from the vendor, and report them to eBay and PayPal (assuming you used that method for payment) and to Microsoft

I have a similar problem. My laptop specs are identical to the ones you stated about your laptop. I have had my laptop for about 6 months now and I just started experiencing the same issue last week. My CPU usage goes up to 100% and stays there even if no program is in use at that moment. My download speed is very slow, it used to be about 5Mbps and now its a maximum of 1.3Mbps. I use opera browser and just merely opening a google page takes ages whereas it used to take split seconds. I just wanna know how you solved your issue and if you can render me some help. About the bluetooth, can I use my bluetooth on windows 7 just by installing the drivers or do I have to install windows vista? Thank you..
