Hello, I am new here but I saw this is a really good helping forum so here is 1 of my problems:

Since yesterday I started moviemaking with tga and dem files but I downloaded twice a game and I needed/need it. It's located in C:\Program Files (x86)\CSS Fake frags\cstrike.
I can't see it, but I can open it and that only with programs and then I see a lock icon in the right up-corner. Here is a pic:

So I saw some tuts and I changed a thing, I didn't know if it helped but I tested it and it doesn't help me with this problem.

I don't know if the options I set are correct.
Please help me I really need to see the files again.

It is because you are trying to save your files into Program Files, STOP doing that.
Use your user directory to put this stuff, C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME

I can't change that, because the program steam makes automaticly the files in my program files

When you want to download and SAVE, you have the option of where to save it. when you INSTALL software, that's when it will go to Program Files or Program Files (x86).

Lock icon: This means that you have a private item in a non-private (shared, public) directory. This indicates that it is a file or folder with special permissions & that the user is restricted from performing some operations on that file or folder.

His game is SUPPOSED to be in program files...let's not confuse the issue by having him install software in his user folder.

You don't have to install anything into Program Files. It is only a convention. I personally install all of my games including Steam into C:\Users\Logic\Games. every single one to avoid these very specific issues.

Yes, but the problem is he has a 64-bit operating system and if his games are of the 32-bit version they should reside under C:\Users\Program Files (x86)........., not C:\Users\Program Files.......

If he has messed with junction points and symbolic links he's bound to experience problems.

That again does not matter. Weather you put a program into x86 if it is 32bit or not does not matter. It is used only for organization. The location of the program does not matter to Windows. You can put a 64bit application into Program Files (x86) if you wanted and it will still work.

Again, where you install applications does not make a difference to Windows. But installing games into one's user directory solves this very problem. One I routinely do.
