HomeGroup and wifi Home Network printer incompatability?

I did delete the last printer. Attached are screen shots of the current settings. I wonder if it's a printer port issue; if HomeGroup requires me to connect this laptop to a printer via USB since there are no other PCs in the "group" (Another reason why I'd like to get completely rid of HomeGroup). Tried reinstalling the Brother multifunction device again, but installation failed.

In post 21 screenshots 3/4 show the printers IP address as 10 xxxxxx, now on a >>normal<< network it should read 192.168.xx.

But yours has a WSD connection hence 10xxxxx.
Brought in by a MS WSD programme, This is not my area, i think its more a Business related network not home.

Will put a call out for more expert knowledge.

In the meantime can you post your features like mine.

Roy

Thanks for your diligence guys, I really appreciate it. I did change the IP address at some point but it seemed to make no difference. Below is a screen shot with a side-by- side comparison of Windows features (mine to the right).

I did contact seller of laptop who suggested I do a system restore. Will try that but need to get DVD(s) for the back-up. Other in other forums(fora?), as I mentioned, had done this and it did not fix the problem. If that is the case I might just return the laptop and get a new one. Life is too short!

I keep going in circles apparently and the that suspicion that HomeGroup interferes with other functions (printer in my case) is getting stronger...
