I was able to share my folder on the homegroup (from the laptop) and the desktop was able to see it. But I still cant see the desktop from my laptop. Ive tried shutting down all the computers, unplugging the modem and router to reset everything to no avail.

Its gotta be some setting thats different on one of my machines because the desktop can see the laptop but not the other way around. Is there a way to just default/delete/reset everythign so I can try again on a clean slate?

When you set up the laptop for homegroups, did you run the wireless setup wizard? If you didn't do that you need too.

You need to set up Homegroup on the laptop up from the wireless network and you have to run the wireless setup wizard for Homegroup to work correctly,..not plugged in. So you will need to leave the homegroup first from the wired NIC connection then rejoin wirelessly and then run the wireless network set up wizard.

Also when describing your problem, you should use the word PC instead of desktop to describe your PC, I was greatly confused by this.

Sorry, I should have specified Desktop PC. I can see how this can be confusing - I meant desktop PC and not desktop as in C:/Users/Desktop.

Im not sure if I ran the wireless setup wizard - I assume I did but I don't remember, when I first installed Windows 7, it just kinda did its thing.

I've tried leaving the wired Homegroup and creating a new one over the wireless network but same results. Can only see the laptop on the homegroup but not my PC. Where can I find the wireless network setup wizard?
