Hi
Okay - i know theres enough of these posts around on the internet to make a whole book series - but ive given up reading them; as they do not seem to be helping me.
Ive just got a laptop, in which i am wanting to connect to my desktop computer wirelessly - thus using HomeGroup.
I have set up a home group on my new laptop - created a password etc. I go to my desktop, it goes "Join Homegroup" i click join, i enter the password and then it just goes on one continuous loop of doing sweet FA (the loading bar just goes on and on and on and on....)
Here's what ive tried:
*Refreshing the HomeGroup
*Turning Services on and off (come back to that in a mo)
*Turning the firewall on and off (Kaspersky Firewall)
* Syncing the time of the two machines (to the best of my ability)
Ive used the never ending, more confusing than an ancient language - troubleshooter... which didnt do anything. It keeps complaining that certain services arent running properly.... and i have tried to get them to force start but they just wont budge. It tires to start the process - HomeGroupProvider - but it just (in task manager & services) says "Stopping" - its set to start automatically.... same goes for HomeGroupListener which is stopped.
For the provider i press 'Stop' and receive a lovely dialouge box telling me its unable to stop the servie as it "cannot accept control messages at this time". And now its complaining that i havent started the service and so cant stop it.
im getting very tired and fustrated with this pile of poo of software - windows is easy is what they say... im thinking id rather use linux right now. Any ideas?
(btw It doesnt seem to be the network adaptors or the router; as iTunes (laptop) can see my desktop's music library!)
