You could right click on the CD in the "Computer" window, click on Copy, right click on the folder, and click on Paste. no, not really. i can copy a full CD's worth of audio files off an MP3 CD in about 10 minutes.. sounds like something is wrong with the CD drive..

My guess it that it may have also been caused by your antivirus program (or similar) scanning the CD files before allowing them to be copied over. If you have a older system with a IDE connected CD drive, then it could also take a while to complete as well.
