core i7
4 Gb DDR3 ram
500GB Hard Disk
2769mb Graphics

When I bought,it has only single disk drive "C" with registered Window 7 Home Premium, now I want to make partitions without formatting this window.I dont want to loose this registered window and my data as well.

Is there any method for it ??
Kindly help out.

You can shrink the existing C: partition which will create what's called "unallocated space". You could then format that unallocated space (nothing happens to the original C: partition), assign a drive letter, and have a new partition. This tutorial shows how it's done using built in Windows 7 tools.

Or you may find it easier to use a free tool called MiniTool Partition Wizard. It may be a bit more user friendly.

This article gives some pros and cons to having multiple partitions.

Advantages/Disadvantages of Partitioning a Drive

With today's larger hard drives and faster CPUs you shouldn't have any noticeable speed or performance drop.

As far as other issues, it would help to see a maximized screenshot of your Disk Management window. Your hard drive may already have other partitions besides the main C: partition. There could be a hidden manufacturer's recovery partition and/or a system reserved partition containing your boot files. If this is the case, and depending how those partitions are arranged in relation to the C: partition, it might be easier to use the MiniTool Partition Wizard because it has greater flexibility than Windows 7 Disk Management.

so what you suggest....... I do this or not...because I felt that my PC is slow as compared to other PC's having same specs and same manufacturer but good in performance than mine due to several partitions......

Another thing I have recovery drive of 14.65GB.......does it contain Window recovery or any other thing ?
