How do I hide my hard drive's other partitions from users/guests?

I dont mind C:\ being exposed but I'd like my data to be accessed only by me. D:\ is where I have some data. D:\ and C:\ are the same physical disk. E:\ and F:\ are USB Storage drives and also have my data.

How can I do this?

Wildgoat, I use a program called Safehouse, what I do is to not create other partitions on my hard disk but create safehouse drives which I then password protect. Once opened and entering the password, the safehouse drives are assigned drive letters and operate just like other disk drives.
My choice would be to copy all your D: Drive data off to an external drive and then remove the D drive partition and install safehouse, then create a safedrive disk of whatever size you wish. Assign a password and open it.
Then copy all your data from your external drive to the new drive letter for the safehouse drive.
It can be seen as a big file from the regular user but can't be accessed without the password.

I didn't check this in win7 but it used to be in windows registry. (open regedit.exe)
Don't remember exactly where, somwehre in POLICES when you modfied data from 0 to 1 - drives disappear.
They where there still, and you can get to them from for example cmd.exe but wasn't visible in "my computer"

Just change the permissions on the drive. I'm guessing its a data drive so you wont have to worry about messing up the OS. The users will still be able to see the drive but they wont be able to access it.

I agree, isn't this what the NTFS permissions are for?

You can even add standard users on the LAN and give them special access to only certain folders on the drive if you want.

What happens if I my main drive has a problem and I need to reformat and reinstall the OS? Will I still be able to access the files from the other partitions/drives?

First Sorry for the late reply.

I could be incorrect on this so please correct me if I'm wrong.

As long as you have an administrative account (account with admin rights to the PC) you can take ownership of the files and recreate the permissions.
