How do I log into my administration account?

Today I made a standard account on my laptop Windows 7. I logged out of my administration account to go into the new standard account. It's the first time I made another account on this laptop and haven't seen before "other user" as oppose to seeing the other account user name in the welcome screen. I figured out how to get in to the standard account, but now I can't go back into my administration account. Every time I type in my administration username and password it tells me "the username and/or password is incorrect". I've tried to research how to fix it, but what I've found so far doesn't seem to work.

i've tried to go to safe mode & command prompt to enable/disable the administration account on the home screen, but it just tells me "error 5 ... Access denied" something along those lines.

Please help me, I have homework saved on that account!

Hi eyebeea and welcome to W7 Forums

When you power up your laptop, how many user icons are displayed on the logon screen? Click the icon relating to the administrator account and provide the password.

theres two icon boxes, one I named Homework Account (standard account) and has a picture and I didn't provide a password. And then theres another icon box, no picture and it says "other user". The problem is, when i type in for my administrator account (user name and password) it constantly says "the user name and/or password is incorrect" which is totally wrong and weird because I've been using the same password for months now and I know my user name very well - its my name...and I even double checked it on my standard account when I tried to manage the account. Also when i tried to access the admin account with "Administrator" as the user name and no password it said the account was disabled and I have to talk to my system administrator...but I'm the administrator.. this is confusing

I will confess that I've never run these as a standard user, but if you would please:

WIN | type CMD.EXE | do NOT hit Enter | CTRL + SHIFT + ENTER keycombo |ALT + y keycombo |
now when you are prompted to enter your admin password, enter the password of your admin account

If that got you there, then at least you know the admin password.

Let's get some info about the accounts.

Type following, precisely as written:
wmic sysaccount get Domain,LocalAccount,Name,SID,Status /format:table > %userprofile%\desktop\SystemAccounts.txt

wmic useraccount list full /format:table > %userprofile%\desktop\UserAccountsFull.txt

this will put two files, namely, SystemAccounts.txt and UserAccountsFull.txt, on to your desktop.

you can now type
EXIT
to return.

Oh yes, WIN=key with the Microsoft logo on top.

Upload (do not simply paste) those two files into your next post.
Post a File or Screenshot in Seven Forums

thanks,
karl

You do not type WIN.

Win is the key with the Microsoft logo, the microsoft wavy flag on top.
This key is quite often located on the bottom keyboard row adjacent to the ALT key.

Hit the WIN key.
Type CMD (you don't really need the .exe, just CMD)
Since the keycombo approach may have confused you, then:
RIGHT-CLICK on CMD.EXE displayed above where you were typing
Click on "Run as administrator" (directly under the word Open) in the resulting list shown
Click on the YES button

Now you will see what is called a prompt, which will be similar to, but not necessarily identical to:
C:\Users\karl>

that is where you start typing the line in that starts with wmic.
