How do I password access to facebook on my pc?

Title says it all really.
(only have 1 account on my pc which is Admin)

I don't mind my family using my pc, just want to block them using facebook on it, with a password.
Ideas anyone?

Hello Dodgy, welcome to the Seven Forums.

The easiest way would be to create limited standard user account to other family members, protect your own admin account with a strong password and then use Parental Controls to completely block access to Facebook from that limited account, as told in this excellent tutorial by Brink.

If using only on user account, any user of your computer can enable anything you disable.

agreed. generally though if someone wants on my computer i put them on the guest account which windows 7 has done a wonderful job on. they can save whatever they want to it and when they log off it reverts back to normal. gotta love that.

Yeah, activating the built-in Guest Account is also a very good alternative. The difference is, as Valtonray mentions, that when using a standard user account you family members can save their files, which they can not when using guest account.

Thing is, my wife and kids do not know how to enable anything I disable(yet! lol), when they do I will go down the multiple user accounts avenue and lock my pc to them.
All I want is to password protect the facebook website on my pc.

which browser do you use? but to be fair it's gonna be pretty easy for them to bypass the blocks you set up of it's on an admin account.

anyways regardless of the browser you can set any website to a parental block requiring a password to bypass just check the security settings.

Because I have no need to use the built-in parental controls of Seven, I'm not sure of this but I think you can not use parental controls if you only have one (admin) account. It would not be logical if this was allowed but maybe other members can confirm this , one way or the other.

You have a lot less headache and easier task to accomplish when you either activate the guest account or create a standard user account.

i still stand by the guest account, it's really the most effective way to make this stick and not allow them to bypass it. im not sure how old your kids are but if they are old enough to be interested in facebook i'm pretty sure they will get into it with the admin privileges.

This sounds like the best path IMO.

You could use Windows Live Family Safety you could restrict certain website.
