How do I replace corrupted files?

Okay, so Repair Install complete! There was a popup just before it took me to the desktop that read "instruction at 0x6bb9183e referenced memory at 000000050" -- not sure if that's anything to worry about but the computer seems to be running fine. I ran a sfc scan just to make sure it wasn't giving me that corrupted files message and it didn't.

I am curious about one thing though (and I'm fairly certain that it isn't in the tutorial!), on step 22 of the Repair Install, it suggests looking for missing user files but I'm not sure if I could tell if anything's missing. Is there an easier way to go about that? Or is this step not that important and I should run the Disc Cleanup?

You can wait to Cleanup windows.old if it's there in C:/ until you make sure everything is intact. You can also compare the User folder sizes with Windows.old to see if anything is missing. I've never found anything to be missing.

In order to view the Windows.old folder, do I have to alter the hidden files settings? Would that do any harm to the computer?

No you can always unhide System Files at Control Panel>Folder Options>View.

I still don't see Windows.old even after that. I tried searching for the name but it has no results.

I didn't have one on a Repair Install I did the other day. I'm not sure I ever remember seeing one after a Repair Install. It may be they modified it via an Update since Shawn wrote the tutorial years ago, possibly due to the Repair Install reliably rolling back if it fails.

You can ask Shawn about it in the Repair Install comments section, as he may want to revisit that.
