how do i "Stack" search pages, i lose the page I'm on

i do a lot of research.. i need to go to google and look up something else.. but i lose the site i left.. how do i navigate several pages at a time.. without losing all but the last one i went to.. probably something simple, i build computers, but i am not really proficient at the software.

no problem on XP.. i just got 7 64bit Pro,

If Google is in your address bar, click on the down arrow, then middle click (using the mouse wheel) on the Google entry you find in the drop down box. It will open another tab

Are you saying that the instances you have opened do not show up when you hover over your browser icon in the taskbar? What browser are you using?

Jacee.... thanks.. it works.. i like the XP/Vista method better.. why change it to a back door system.? make people happy just make it better, one button to click.. all the pages cascade nicely, neatly.. i hate the tabs.. I'll never get used to them, creature of habit.

whs.... the one that came with the OS .

i went to 'Search Programs and Files'.. clicked on Internet Explorer. Google came up and now shows up in the 'Hover Function'.. did it again and i have 2 Googles and this page.. i dont know why i lose the page i was on when when i use the top bar to get another Google page.

it is odd not to just get another page like Xp/Vista.. why the extra steps? no big deal, i just find it annoying, after getting used to the easy way.. i spend a lot of time searching thru info on a lot of different sites..

what i am referring to is the 'START' pop up that used to have all the things you used most frequently.. IE was always on top, click it and you got another search page over the last.. get more than 5 across the bottom bar and they went into a single bar that would pop up with the list names listed in order of use, click on one and you went there and could come back.. but now Start is just a tool bar of things i dont use. calculator etc.. Notepad i use, none of the others.

i only have one hand, i cant type without looking at the key board.. it is slow. it is just the learning curve I'm sure.. it seems always a little steeper for me than others. sorry for using the wrong termonology .. i'm probably just confused.

i really do like 7 much better. just need to learn to useit..

So you are using IE8 I suppose. But that should show you all IE instances when you hover over the IE icon - as in my picture.

Don't let it throw you ... it really is a good shortcut to get back to where you were. You could also use the down arrow next to the 'back page' arrow.
Also, look at what whs is showing you. If you don't see what you're looking for on a tab, then it will be behind
the first page you opened in the task bar.

See, Firefox has an option to open search results in a new tab. Can't find such an option in IE...
