How Do I Stop This?

Randomly, the image below appears on startup. I always click the x. I also verify the version and it is always the latest. Still, this annoying pop-up keeps coming back. Help.

It's either in start-up or a schedule task delete it it will be part of Adobe update that checks all their software and often puts it's self back when you run their software. Try free winpatrol it warns you of anything trying to start and blocks it

hmmmm, if so, it would occur consistently, and for me it is random, i.e. not at EVERY startup ...

it therefore sounds pointless to do the above ...

In my case, no thx - I care not to install software where it only substitutes one message with another.

Hi

When Flash is installed it places its own control panel in the MS control panel
from the update tab
gives you 3 options
Never update
Automatically update
AND YOURS
>>Advise me<< when an update is available.

Move the dot to which you want.

... no, it returns again. What baffles me is WHY this happens! As declared in the OP the latest is already installed! There have also been times when I did NOT have the latest and DID NOT get this alert. The way I discovered this was on certain sites that used this and when I attempted to view content the site required me to install 'the latest' version in order view. odd ...

Flash has 3 different install modes, 1 for each type of these browsers

IE
Chrome
Others, Firefox etc

If you view on 1, IE, and its out of date it asks to update, then view on Firefox
(i see you run both according to your specs, I have to assume if 1 is out of date so are the others.)
So IT WILL ALSO ask you to update

Roy, somehow I am not being understood. Revisit post #1 & #6. To repeat, I checked (via both browsers and via the adobe site checker) and it reports the latest is installed. So, why that annoying pop-up?

Check in msconfig/Startup/Services and see if Adobe is checked. If so uncheck it.

Hi,
You might uninstall flash in both browsers if you haven't already
Install it only one of them and see if it returns.
Repeat on the other.
If using a combo flash installer :/
You might try a single version for each browser ?
I haven't willingly installed flash in quite some time.
