Ok well I think you answered my question. You have to have a special touch screen monitor? Any suggestion on brand?

wacom works OOB and i believe N-trig (the other big touchscreen company) should work also.....

the thing is with these brands is that there only available to OEM....

as my computer (its a laptop) has a built-in wacom touchscreen and digitizer...

if you are looking around these are two good ones (if this is a external screen [and you can tell what company included the touchscreen capability] then it should come with a vista driver in case its not recognized....)

since its a derivative of the vista family there should be no problem in installing the vista driver...

Special Kit?!

This is crazy, one of the big pushes for W7 was to make it more 'peripheral friendly' having to buy new kit is a big no no. 7 should work with kit already out there.

Sorry to dredge up an old post, but I'm currently questioning Microsoft's intentions with it's touch capability.

I've got a thread going here: http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...8-x64-touch-capability-problem.html#post57849 about trying to get the touch screen capability going on my machine, and haven't had a bit of luck.

Please, if any of you have any info, please post in my thread...I'd be eternally grateful (as well as +rep!) for anything that can get these 3 touchscreens to work in Win7 (they work just fine in XP Pro!)

If you were referring to me (which I'm sure you are since no one else in this thread has posed a question aside from the OP), you're dead wrong. - Didn't follow the link in my post, did you?

I have 3 touchscreens that I'm trying to get working with Windows7 - that are actually TOUCH screens. These things cost me $600 each when they were brand new, and I would like to be able to utilize them with Windows 7.

They're not multi-touch, they're capacitive resistance 5-wire touchscreens, and although they have touch capability on XP Pro (x86) and on Vista (x64) - they have no touch capability on Windows 7 (x64).

If anyone has any information that may help me, please post in my thread http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...8-x64-touch-capability-problem.html#post57849.

Thank you.

No worries - I did take it wrong and wasn't in the best frame of mind when I did, so my apologies to you as well, I'm not usually uptight like that.

Thanks for the kind words, and hope to see you around.
