Generally not a good idea---the produced DVDs are not as reliable as a backup source as a hard drive would be. I'd use an imaging application and store the image file on an external drive if at all possible. DVDs are better than nothing, but I wouldn't have a lot of faith in them.

If you just want a Windows installation disc and don't have one, you can download an ISO file of Windows 7 from mydigitallife.info, burn it to a disc and install with it. Use your existing 25 character Product Key.

1. Have you made the Recovery CDs/DVDs? Do create them and keep it safely so that in the event of the HDD failure, you can replace the HDD and restore your laptop to the factory condition.

2. Do note down the product ID on the COA sticker and keep it safely. In due course that may become unreadable and you will require the COA key in the event you need to clean install (unless you have backed up and kept the OEM activation data from your genuine SONY machine.)
