Hello,

We have a small test system, that uses a laptop with three static IP devices. All are conencted to a mini switch. Our little network, worked fine with XP but since we've upgraded to windows 7 32 bit and I can't figure out how to do this? I've set the network connection with a static IP but the network says it's unconnected?
How do I set the laptop with a static IP that can communicate to the other static devices on our little network.

Thanks for any help

First off I would make sure you have the drivers for your laptop, specifically the network card. And that they all are up to date.

In relation to network connectivity i assume the devices are in the same IP address range with the same subnet?

I would also check your Ethernet cables to make sure they are working correctly.

Here is a guide to changing IP addresses. Windows 7 Static IP

Lan connection ok!

Hello,

My local area connection is fine. But it says Unidentified network, shared. It also says IPv4 - No internet access, and IPv6 - no network access. When I go move my mouse over the ion near the time, is says - Unidentified network - no internet access.

This machine is hardwired and won't see the internet. It is a test laptop in which I put in a static IP address and communicate to my other network devices using a hub \ switch. This worked with XP - so there is something which I don't understand on what is requried to setup.

Thanks agian for any help

Does the computer require internet access? if so, you need to set the Default Gateway in Local Area Connection settings to the IP address of the router.

Could you open Command Prompt by Going to Start > Run and Type cmd in the search box. Click the Icon that appears

Then Type Ipconfig /all and post the results

Thanks
