Does the speed increase again when you move the paging file back?
I haven't tried that yet, but I will. In the meantime I found some errors in the Event Viewer - more specifically, eventID 11 - which seem related to the USB drive. You're right, I should try putting the page file back fist, although this is not a welcome alternative - the copy (but not move) speed has increased rather dramatically after I moved the page file.
