how to create a portable app?

I have an application that I want to make portable. It is free and I have. EXE for it. I also installed the PortableApps start and NSIS portable. I'm stuck in trying to create an application portable.
I can not find any detailed instructions at all. I found bits and pieces here and there, but nothing that helped me from beginning to end.
Can someone please help me with this? I really appreciate it.

For any program to be "portable" it means that it doesn't depends at all on an installer or reads/writes to registry or to folders outside the one where it resides. If you took care of those when writing it, it will work in "portable" form.
Forget about NSIS. It's used to make the installer, which for a portable is something you'll want to avoid. The distribution media will only consist of the main exe, together with any dlls or files that it may require, typically in a zip archive.
That, when extracted to an arbitrary directory, should work right out of box. And the program should NOT touch anything outside that folder, unless specifically instructed to do so by the user.

You first need to download and install a utility called ‘Cameyo’. This
utility is an application virtualisation environment that packages the entire
application, including settings, data, files, DLL fi les, registry entries, etc. into a
single executable file. On running it, the application is extracted into a temporary
folder and the registry values and user settings, etc. are temporarily added
to the guest PC as if it were already installed. You will thus no longer need
to install your apps every time you move from one computer to another.
Download Cameyo from ‘http://
www.cameyo.com’ and install it on
your PC.
