Hi everyone,

Everytime i start my machine for some reason when i check my running processes the following 2 are always there even though they are not in my start up menu.

wmplayer.exe (windows media player)

wmpsideshowgadget.exe (windows media player)

I dont have the media player starting up in msconfig, i have even gone through the services tab and disabled any media player settings i found but still its showing in my proceses tab at startup. Its not even minimized in my task bar either

Any ideas why this seems to start up with windows?

Hope you can help, many thanks

You can uninstall (hide) Windows Media Player in Control Panel>Programs and Features>Turn Windows Features on and Off>Media Features.

That WMP sideshow gadget sounds like something that came in on a factory bloatware or 3rd party sidebar. I would track it down and uninstall.

Thanks guys i will give it a go when im home from work, i built my system from scratch so i cant think off the top of my head how the wmpgadget process would have been installed via a 3rd party app unless it was a windows update for media player. When i right clicked the process b4 and opened the file location it came up with the media player folder in program files.

thanks again guys
