My situation is that I have a laptop running on Windows 7 64 bit that I was given by my college that is connected to the college's wifi network. I want to uninstall some programs since it is very slow but when I try uninstalling a program, it says that I need the User Account Control ID and password. Is there trick or hack that can help me bypass this User Account Control knowing I don't know the ID or password for the User Account Control.

Thank you

I think OP mentioned the laptop now currently belong to him.
So this may not be illegal, as OP need to do housekeeping on the laptop.
That is instead on re-install the OS.

I didn't post anything about being legal or otherwise.
The I.T. Department should be able to guide semofJMJ.

We have no idea what conditions were applied by the college when giving computer to a person to use on their network.
The college will know those conditions and be able to give proper guidance.

+1

Not to mention: Disabling UAC is a really bad (read: unsafe) thing to do.

I agree that you need to contact the college IT department for further guidance.

Cheers,

And a Win7/64 Pro laptop; And a Win10/64 Pro desktop.
Even if it were a keeper, I think that the IT dept should wipe the drive and reinstall. I certainly wouldn't want someone else's previous or personal data on any computer given to me for personal use and I would want to personalize it for me.

Otherwise, if this computer was given for the sole purpose of "to use by the student" and must be returned at the end of the semester/year, then forum rule #6 would certainly apply.

Multiple systems. Too many specs to name.
You have to have admin rights to disable UAC and it is a security risk to disable it. On top of that you have to have admin rights to uninstall programs. Also if this is a computer owned by your school then they likely are using group policy and if they are those settings would keep UAC enabled. Since this isn't your computer you can only do what you want by taking it to the IT department. Now keep in mind that they have to follow your school's policies so they might not be able to help you.
