How to install 32 bit program??

I am trying to download a program that will only work in 32 bit mode. It seems to me that some programs give you the option of either running in 32 or 64 bit but this program doesn't. The program has a *.msi extention. Don't know if that means anything ??

I may be wrong, but I thought .msi files had to be specific to the OS platform type.

Do you mean you are trying to install a32bit program on a 64bit OS? the .msi extention is the microsoft installer package

It should install in the x86 program files without problems. What are yor problems once you got past the installer?

You don't do anything special for 32-bit programs. They install just fine on a 64-bit OS.

Just got finished talking with the Tech at the bank that handles the program that I'm trying to run. He told me that the program currently isn't set-up to run on a 64 bit OS, or a Mac system. The program would have allowed me to deposit checks over the Internet which would have been very helpful and saved me money on stamps. He also said the program will probably be ready in a couple of months to run 64 bits

I'm not sure the tech you talked to knows what he is talking about. The OS handles both 32-bit and 64-bit programs transparently. When you install a 64-bit application, it is installed into Program Files, 32-bit apps are installed into Program Files (x86). I've never had to do anything special to install 32 or 64 bit apps on my 64-bit system.

The problem you get is when trying to run a 64-bit application on a 32-bit Computer I wouldn't worry - you could try but I would wait for the 64-Bit application to be released

If the app isn't x64 compatible, then the.msi file won't run. I've already come across software in the .msi format that will not run or install on an x64 system. Just because the OS can handle x86 or x64 software, doesn't mean the app in question is compatible. If it isn't compatible...it isn't going to work, simple as that. Are they behind the times? Absolutely, but it happens.

I have a problem, i'm trying to install a 32bit software on a 64bit computer (the software is compatible with 64bit) but it doesn't work. A window appears : The installer doesn't correspond to the number of bits of Windows operating system. Please use installation CD corresponding by the number of bits of Windows operating system.
Do you have any idea to find a solution to my problem?

Hi ophti. Your details shows you are running Windows 10. It's possible the program is not compatible with Windows 10.
