Solved How to install windows updates after windows image backup restore

Hi all.

I just did a complete format and restore the image created in february 2016 of my win 7 Home 64 bits.
Now, I would like to install only the security system updates and avoid all the telemetry and such.
What is the best way to do so?

I just saw that a popup appeared from windows update that I have a bunch of updates waiting to be installed. Should I go ahead or there are already some that are better not to install?

You are probably good if you install only the ones with "security" in the name of the update. Hide all updates which don't have "security" in the name.

I'm not sure if that will avoid the telemetry updates; but it should give you all of the security updates.

Dism++ will warn you which contain telemetry, so you can skip those and let it download and install the rest.

I DL Dism++ but I can't understand how it works.

It shows a bunch of updates but doesn't say anything about them
It has all the security only quality updates from October 2016 up to march 2018
But also a big Security Monthly Quality Rollup from 13/03/2018

It also shows some of them in orange and other already tick while the most part is unticked (selected).

Just tell it to install. You don't need to tick anything extra. A message will pop up warning if an update may cause problems, or has telemetry, click cancel each time and it will install the rest.Orange ones are not recommended ( may cause problems with certain machines).
