I've changed the location of my Chrome user profile folder, and created a shortcut that opens Chrome with that profile. But how do I get Windows to open Chrome with this profile? At the moment, for example, a HTML file will open using the original profile location.

Append –user-data-dir=”d:\new chrome user directory location" to your shortcut

where d:\new chrome user directory location is YOUR actual path

I should have been clearer. I have done as you say. But when Chrome is opened any other way other than via my customised shortcut, it obviously opens with the old profile. How can that be fixed?

I have appended –user-data-dir=”d:\new chrome user directory location" to the target of my shortcut. But when Chrome is opened any other way than via the shortcut, for instance launching a web page file saved to my computer, Windows opens Chrome with the old profile. What to be done?
