How to reinstall Microsoft Office after reinstalling Windows 7

I reinstalled Windows 7 and now want to reinstall Microsoft Office (2010).

I originally purchased the 3 copy version of the product but do not want to use a 2nd copy to reinstall on the same computer it was originally working on (prior to the Windows 7 reinstallation).

How do I reinstall the original such that I keep my other 2 copies available for other computers?

Thanks.

If it's on the same machine, you probably wouldn't use up one of the other two copies if you reinstall. If you do, however, I wouldn't worry about it. If you can't authorize the third copy when you go to do so, just call M$ (the program will tell you who to call) and tell them you have Office installed on only two other computers. They may need to deauthorize the existing installations but it's no big deal to reauthorize them. I've done this a couple of times with my copy of Office 2007; it's been installed on five different computers although no more than two at one time. I gave it to a friend when I got Office 2010 for use on her son's computer (it's the same version her son's school uses) and he had no trouble installing it.

You won't have a problem I installed Office 2010 about 4 times. Since I got it. Like the Lady said if it is on the same machine no problem.

Hi there
I've been switching between Windows 8 and Windows 7 a number of times on one machine -- complete re-format and re-install.

I must have re-installed office 2010 at least 8 times on this machine - 4 times on W7 and 4 times on W8. Activates perfectly every time .

So long (as previous posters have said) it's installed on the same machine then no problem.

I think though for NEWER products Ms was considering changing the activation procedures -- you could only get so many activations per month before you'll have to telephone. This was another stupid attempt to stamp out piracy -- you'll never do it like that. Ms's logic is that if a copy of office seems to be getting requests for activation a large number of times then it must be a Pirate copy. This must be total B/S since if people are downloading from torrent sites what chance is likely that the next few people who activate office will have exactly the same hardware to you. (Not talking about "modified products" with Keygens, KMS server emulation etc).

I think finally even Ms has realized how stupid this is as they now are attempting with Office 365 to get people into buying SUBSCRIPTIONS, - I'm not going this route but unfortunately this seems to be the way Ms is moving in.

Cheers
jimbo

I've installed Office 2010 on two different machines in the past few years. I first installed it on a HP laptop, and when it died I installed it on a new Dell - completely different machine of course - with no problems. And in the past few weeks I reinstalled it again on the same Dell after a HDD death. Same copy, same key, two different machines, no problem.

To keep the Licenses correct use the same License/CD key that you used originally for that PC.

TIP: It is important to keep track of the license key(s) installed on each PC. This makes a reinstall a lot smoother. It avoids licensing conflicts.

That is anonther great example of why it is important to track where the keys were installed.
