how to remove credential manager?

How do I remove the windows 7 credential manager? I have no need for it and never want to save passwords / usernames. I find it a really annoying thing that keeps saving my hotmail usernames. This is a real privacy problem. I hate having to go into credential manager and delete all credentials. How do I get rid of credential manager? I just don't want it on my system.

Have you tried clearing all saved info from your browser, and then just choosing to not save the info when you log in to Hotmail?

Yes I have and have even disabled credential manager but it keeps saving. I use CCleaner which does a great job of clearing temp files, cache etc.

I really hate credential manager and want it off my system. How do I get rid of it for good?

Because no one wants to spend all day typing in username and passwords and trying to remember them. Furthermore, this would only be a privacy concerned if you lef other people have free access to your computer and account.

well what happens if the computer is stolen? Or you use the computer in a shared office environment where other users have physical access to the machine and can hack your windows login account?

You cannot remove it. That is all there is to it.
You choose what username/password you want it to store. So choose not to store any.

If you are so concerned with privacy then perhaps you should not be doing private things on a computer that can be stolen or where there is public/unmanaged access. But you are not that concerned with privacy, right?

I have chosen not to store any but the stupid thing keeps on saving. If I can't remove it that is really lame. I have a another box running linux and I can customise it eactly the way I want without any stupid things like credendial manager. Are the no hacks I can employ to get rid of it?

I am sorry but it is a real privacy concern, as any computer could get stolen.

I have never even heard about Credential Manager before I read your post! Maybe this is my fault, but it's simply never shown any signs of life on my system. In any case I googled and found in the Control Panel -> User Accounts. Clicking on "manage your credentials" I found that I've got no Windows credentials, no generic credentials, and no certificates. There is also a button "Link online ID". In my case nothing is linked. I have found no turn on/turn off setting, but nothing like you describe ever pops up. Maybe it's enough to delete anything stored and unlink all online IDs. Maybe you need to edit Group Policy, but in my machine nothing has been done about it and this feature is most certainly dormant.

As to completely uninstalling it - this is probably impossible. I did not find anything related in the "Turn off Windows features" panel.

Itried to disable it following these instuctions from an other user:
On ALT+CTRL+DEL logon screen, select Change User.
Select Credential Manager
Click Logon Using Wizard
DO NOT login yet, it wil not work
In the botom of that screen, click more options.
Select "do not login with credential manager"
Login using normal credentials.
Now you schould be able to login
