How to remove Sirefef.(ending) from laptop hard drive

Alright;

Major problem with my laptop. I got the Sirefef.P, .AP and .F virus on my laptop hard drive.

I guess I didn't act fast enough and it pretty much crashed my hard drive. I can boot up into BIOS, after BIOS I have the choice of booting into Win 7 or Win 8 (I partitioned my drive so I could dual boot) - and I can get into advanced boot options menu.

When I get there, I have the choice of doing 'Repair my Computer' - which I click. I do 'Restore my computer with a recovery disk', which I do, but heres my problem: I don't see my hard drive.

It seems as if the hard drive is non-exisitant now. Which I don't understand because I can still boot up.

I have also tried safe mode - but it gets stuck at the screen 'Boot logging enabled', but I didn't click that.

So, would it be better to scrap my laptop? Or is it still fixable?

Well just in the interest of seeing if we can get you booted into safe mode where you might be able to try and fix something.

Start up Repair first. Then see if you can boot to Safe Mode.

Ok so I am running Startup Repair as I type. Will update ASAP.

So uh.. I took about 10 minutes to launch into this, but it didn't give me all the options. I just went straight away to System Recovery Options.

I know this isn't normal... Any ideas?

It's obvious multiple viruses have screwed with the system.
It was my hope we could get you into safe mode with networking so you could download install update and run Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer

(free version)

As it handles safe mode just fine.

Hey;

Thanks for the link to Windows Defender Offline - I will certainly try that either today or tomorrow.

If anyone has any other suggestions, feel free to go ahead and post.

I can work in DOS if need be, so that is an option also.

Kreig; with your infection any thing you try to do is like trying to herd cats. You must start with a clean computer and WDO has a great reputation for doing just that.
