Ok, POP3 sends/receives and disconnects from the server. I don't think you're description accurately identifies the problem. I checked cox and it was painfully slow, but the
servers and ports are ok as posted in your screen shots. Other mail servers tell you to set "My Server requires authentication", but all that does is associate your id and password to the SMTP side - you could try ticking it to see if it helps.
Ya know what? Could you post screen shots of the other tabs in the account? I sort of stepped on Rode when I said only the general and advanced tab are important to me. Rode might want to see the other tabs. sorry 'bout that.
Could you post screen shots of what you see:
- When I open WLM message status it says not connected.
- Message status in WLM shows tasks that are completed and not completed.
- Shows checking for messages and sending messages.
- Shows messages attempting to be sent, even when I have sent none.
- When I click send/receive, it shows 5 email accounts with the same name.
The break apart msgs and remove from server after values are in RED - I've never seen this before. Neither is selected... hmmmm I don't think that's the issue though, perhaps just an anomaly.
Try manually setting up a 2nd account for Cox (CoxSSL)
On the first setup dialog tick the manually configure checkbox
enter your known values (ID, password, server names....)
on the advanced tab:
tick
SSL for both SMTP and POP3
make sure that
SMTP -
465
POP3 -
995
Server timeout - 1 minute should be long enough
tick - Leave a copy on the server
Save it and then edit the account you just made to change the name on the general tab to CoxSSL
make sure that the new account is the only one sending and receiving (include this account when ......). That means you'll have to edit the other account(s) to untick that option.
Try eMail.
