Microsoft's web email service and Windows Live Mail 2011

Hi,

I had an email from Microsoft saying that they are making changes to their web email services in a few weeks time and that it would prevent email from being delivered to Windows Live Mail 2012. However, I'm actually using Windows Live Mail 2011. Does anyone know if the upcoming change will also prevent emails from being delivered to Windows Live Mail 2011 or is it a Windows Live Mail 2012 issue? If it applies to both versions, I'll have to update to Windows Live Mail 2012 and then apply the patch as I see that Windows Live Mail 2011 is no longer supported.

Thanks

Hi Staffy,
I never got an email from MS and my WL Mail Version 2012 (Build 16.4.3528.0331) is working perfectly.

Hi Roderunner,

Maybe the email hasn't been sent out to you yet? I've read about people installing the patch already and encountering problems. The problem seems to occur when the calendar is synced causing WLM 2012 to crash. The trouble is, the email from Microsoft doesn't say anything about users of WLM 2011 being affected as well. I strongly suspect it will but just wondered if anyone knows for certain.

I'm using WLM 2011 as well, although the change they're making wouldn't appear to affect me anyway as it seems to cover only those using WLM to access their hotmail, outlook, live or msn email accounts whereas I only use it for my ISP email account.

From a security point of view, I suppose however that we shouldn't still be using WLM 2011 given that it's no longer supported.

In a few months time, I'll be upgrading to Win 10 so will be forced to ditch WLM 2011 anyway. I was just hoping to leave things be for the time being until I do the upgrade. With the imminent changes that Microsoft are making to their web email it looks like this won't be the case..?
