How to store a computer system image file on another computer

Hi All,

I need your help to resolve my issue.
I m having 2 laptops at home, I want to create system image file of laptop1 onto laptop2.
Since the data is large i cant take the hassle of creating sytem image on a DVD as it will require more DVD's to do it. So m planning to store it on Laptop2. I m thinking of connecting 2 Laptops with a LAN cable and then create the sytem image on other laptop.

Is it possible to do it the way i m thinking? or is der any other way to do this??

Very easy; I do it myself.

If you don't have a router, use a crossover network cable between the two laptops. If you do have a router, use a wired connection from each to the router. Either way, make sure you share a folder on the destination laptop for the source laptop to stash the image.

I use the free version of Macrium Reflect for my images. You can either connect the laptops and run the image directly, or do what I do and store the image on the source laptop and then manually copy it over to the other laptop.

You will need to use a third party imaging solution such as Macrium Free. Your version of windows doesn't support imaging over the network with Windows Backup.

I use DriveImageXml (free) through UBCD4Win. Works very well. If you have an external usb, you can take backup to that.
