How to Uninstall Windows Live Mail

Thanks for the info (nem)! Have a new W7 PC and was able to unistall the Windows Live programs.
I did notice in Programs and Features these: Windows Live Signon Assistant, Windows Live Sync, & Windows Live Upload Tool. Not sure if these should also be uninstalled some how?

They are unrelated to Windows Live Essentials. If you want them gone, or won't use them, feel free to remove them.

According to the Windows Live Essentials download manager, which lists the available components of the Essentials, Photo Gallery and Movie Maker both include "Windows Live Sync". Since I haven't yet installed these programs, I can't say whether they produce a separate entry in Programs and Features.

Windows Live Mail is part of Windows Live Essentials. Run the uninstaller for Essentials, and you can choose which components to remove.

Is that a typo or you really mean Windows Mail.
Windows mail and Windows Live Mail are 2 different animals.
So, which is it you are asking about ?

Bear in mind that this is Windows 7 forum. If you inquired about Windows Mail, it would belong to Vista forum, unless you had Windows Mail installed in Windows 7 computer.

Need a few clarification from you.

Even if you uninstall Windows Live Mail the proper way, you are still left with 100mb from the original install in the user's appdata\local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail folder. Anyone know if it's okay to go ahead and delete the thing?

That folder contains all your messages and contacts that were visible in WLM. If you don't need them you can delete them just as you can delete other personal files you no longer want.

I also noticed that regardless of what options (i.e. Mail, Messenger, Photo Gallery, Movie Maker) you choose to download of Microsoft Essentials 2011, the setup program installs EVERYTHING onto the hard drive (Program Files). What's up with that?

1) If you downloaded the "full" installer and you want to save space on your hard drive you can always delete the install file from the place where you saved it. You could also delete the much smaller "web" installer, if that's what you used originally.
2)"Programs and Features" list calls it "Windows Live Essentials" but you should only have installed the programs you selected. E.G. I only have WLM installed myself. Even if you downloaded the "full" installer instead of the "web" installer you still have the ability to select which programs you want to install. Check your Start Menu/All Programs/Windows Live folder to see what components of the suite have been installed.

I don't use live mail anymore, I've changed to MicroSoft Outlook.

Same here, that's why I was looking for this solution. I've been playing around with Incredimail for awhile, but they have to many "updates", which are more like Promotion updates for other things to buy and add on, that I'm now using Thunderbird.

Oh, by the way squid13, thanks for asking this question and posting this thread. It has helped allot of us.
