HP netbook with 4 primary partitions

Hi,

I'd like to post my problem here, don't know for sure if It's the correct forum.
So if I'm wrong, sorry in advance.

I have been through a bunch of forums these days, but none of them seemed to provide me with the answer I'm looking for.

I also found a lot of contradicting answers and views from experienced users/techs

I bought a HP Pavilion dm1-4100ed Netbook with pre-installed W7 and I'd like to partition the HDD.

The current state of my HDD:
* System, active, primary
C:Windows, boot, primary (aprox 483 GB)
D:HP Recovery, primary
E:HP-tools, primary

I tried to shrink C:, that worked....
But, then I ran into the problem that all the pre-installed partitions are primary,
And I'd like to split up the 483 GB into a w7 OS part and a data-part.

Since W7 disk management did not provide me with answers, I installed the freeware partition manager from EaseUs.

I need to convert 1 primary into logical to split up the 483 GB, but Which one?

I'd say C:, but since it is recognised as Boot, I can't convert it.
EaseUs doesn't allow to convert system or boot-drive into logical.

And is it safe to convert a primary recognised as boot (is C: really the Bootr in QW7?) into logical

I also read on numereous forums I should leave the HP recovery-partition alone, as well as the HP-tools....

My questions;
How can I get out of this situation?
Which partition could I convert safely without losing function?

does anyone have a bit of advice?

Use free Partition Wizard bootable CD to convert C to Logical, then in the shrink space next to it create a Logical NTFS partition. Video help on how to set partition as Primary or Logical.
