HP OfficeJet 6500 Windows 7 Software will not install!!

I purchased a new HP Officejet 6500 Wireless. The software disk will not install. I was able to load the drivers through the "Add a Printer" and can print in wireless mode. I tried to download the "software" for the scanner and fax on-line...it would not load either.

I contacted support and they said it may be a "installer" issue. Does that make sense? I tried to run the software again and got a "fatal error"

Any help would be appreciated.

[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Right click the installation file (usually an .exe file) and select Properties, then Compatibility Tab.[/FONT]
[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]Check off Run As Administrator option at bottom to install.[/FONT]
Try that first.
If not, then follow the same procedure, but also run compatibility Vista (service pack 2) mode.

HP software is very buggy, I have a 4 year old model and it installed flawlessly, but folks having newer models are having troublesome installations... go figure.
