I am having a problem again with a popup in Firefox v52.0

This is in the Dell Inspiron 3541 laptop, OS Win7 Home 32bit. This time there is only 1 popup, see the attached picture. It randomly pops up. I ran a virus check, nothing found. I ran Malware, nothing found, and spybot and again nothing found. This pop up takes over Firefox. It will go away for a while when I use Ctrl > Alt/ Del to shut down Firefox with the "start Task Manager" then start Firefox again. Then it comes again again when I am working on something else in Firefox. It is a pain in the neck. How do I get ride of it?

To be on the safe side you should set .js file association to open with your text editor instead of WSH.

Try this addon. Click&Clean | Add-on for Firefox

Once installed click the drop down arrow next to the icon in the toolbar and select preferences.

Latest version is 52.0.1 for 32bit pc's

It's nothing do do with FF being out of date (even if the OP is using an outdated version) - see here:

Look it's nothing to do with a version of Firefox that needs updating. Firefox has it's own update mechanisms and that page is not one of them.

From link that was posted and subsequently removed.
To our knowledge those notices are a form of "malvertising": those fake notices get triggered by code contained in ads that are displayed on otherwise legitimate websites you are visiting and get spread through advertisement networks.

We are not allowed to discuss this as per forum rules. Get yourself a script blocker and learn how to use it.

You need to be more specific about forum rules #13 "No ad blocking discussions". In my opinion ad blocking discussions should be allowed. As long as the discussion doesn't involve ad's that support this forum or the forum it self. That's just my opinion.

Get this addon:

Click to Play per-element :: Add-ons for Firefox

In about:configpreferences - Firefox - type about:config in Firefox address bar then press Enter and accept the warning.

In the search box find:
plugins.click_to_play and set to "true"
plugin.sessionPermissionNow.intervalInMinutes set it to 0 (zero)

On about:addons (plugins page) flash plugin must be "Ask to activate"

That will not affect any content on this site except flash videos and you can click to activate playback.

RE: Your specific problem. Those scripts are hosted on sites with rapidly changing URL's so it's not possible to use hosts file blocking. When visiting sites that attempts to run scripts or prompt you to download or run a script it's best to set file associations for .js files as suggested.

If you get the other suggested noscript addon just allow scripts only on trusted sites.
