I don't Have TPM 1.2 Installed?

I am trying to run Bitlocker on all my drives. It does work on most drives

It works on every drive except the C:/ drives of both my notebook (HP dv9008tx) and my Desktop (motherboard Asus P5W-DH Bios 2901)

Is there anything I can do to encrypt my C:/ drives with Bitlocker ?

Check in BIOS to see it TPM is enabled. I noticed a question mark on your topic heading and thought it weren't sure if you have TPM or not.

This is the error message. If I don't have this TPM 1.2 in my bios or it is not turned on , why can I encrypt my D:/ as per this screenshot?

There is something I am missing here.

What is is your D:\ ? a external HDD or a partition from C:\?

If you follow the method provided in the link then you can use bitlocker without the TPM to encrypt your C: drive. All it takes is a USB thumb drive to unlock the computer at startup.

You have to have the system reserved partition created by windows seven in order to encrypt the C: drive.

How does one have Windows 7 create the system reserved partition?

I have the same problem. I'm able to encrypt drive D & E which are internal HD's, but I get the exact error message as Towle when I try it on the C drive.

The system reserved partition is created automaticaly when windows is used at the setup to format the drive.

Click on start then right click on My computer, click on manage > storage then disk management. See if you have the system reserved as in my picture below. If you do not have it then you will have to create it manualy or re-install windows and allow windows to format. If you do create it manualy then it will likely not be hidden. You will have to mark the partition as active then go through the boot recovery in order to get windows to boot up again. Remember that the system reserved cannot be encrypted and that it can be 100 MB in size.

Do not just make a partion active unless you know how to run the boot recovery form the install disk.

I've never used that but based on what I read it shoud work, however it doesn't mention windows seven as a system requirment. I believe that this was a tool originally designed for vista.

No it is just another drive in my notebook it comes with 2 HDD's

I believe BL will encrypt whole drives and not paritions etc. which everyone knows. If you have more than one HDDs, this doesn't mean all of them are "master" HDDs. Usually TPM applies to the first HDD in the system and this renders the need for TPM to be enabled for your C:\ to be Bitlocked. How you are able to BL the others, could be the fact that these are not te master HDD, rather secondary or slaves and thus no difference to USB drives or external HDDs which Bitlocker To Go can be impletemented.

It can encrypt whole drives or just partitions.
