I have a Sigmatel audio onboard no sound!

Was the sound working before the new driver? If it was, I would go into the "device manager" and find the device, go to the driver tab and "roll back driver" this should at least get it working again then try to find out why the new driver will not work.

You may also try different speakers, headphones, ect to see if you have a bad cable or connection somewhere.

You may also go into the BIOS and see if the onboard sound is enabled if you have the option. Maybe someone gained access and disabled it.

Hopefully something here works.

No the sound never worked since I did a clean install of the 64 bit windows 7.

I have tried other speakers and head phones and none of them work. And my bios doesn't have a option to enable onboard sound :/

It's so frustrating because the sound is the only thing that's not working rawr!!

And I tried reading other sigmatel posts and none of them really helped

Please help me!

I assume you have read this from the site but here it is.

No Sound Output to Speakers or Headphones
No sound output can be caused by several problems. The following suggestions may resolve the problem of no audio output:

Onboard audio is disabled in the BIOS
The BIOS Setup program is accessed by pressing the <F2> key after the Power-On Self-Test (POST) memory test begins and before the operating system boot begins. Go to the Advanced > Peripheral Configuration menu to make sure onboard audio is enabled.

Audio settings in the sound mixer are incorrect
Check your audio mixer software to ensure audio is not muted or the volume level is not turned too low.

The speakers or headphones may be connected to the wrong jacks
Make sure you connect all speakers to the correct jacks. If you connect them to line-in or microphone jacks, they won't work.

Audio drivers are not properly installed
Check Device Manager under the Sound, video and game controllers section for any errors associated with the audio driver. Reinstall the audio driver if necessary.

Audio to back panel is muted if front panel is connected
Check your audio mixer software for a setting that mutes back panel audio if you have plugged headphones into a front panel audio solution. Uncheck this setting to allow audio to both the back and front.

Sound Playback is set to wrong device
In Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices, go to the Audio tab. Check the default device for sound playback; there may be multiple selections. Select the desired device, either rear panel or front panel.

And one more in case you are running 64 bit. (you may want to fill out the system specs ASAP.

Audio Driver Installation Issue with Windows XP 64-Bit Edition
Audio drivers may fail to install in Windows XP 64-Bit Edition. Symptoms may include error messages, such as "Error in installation" or "Unknown error".

Microsoft's Update for Windows XP x64 Edition (KB901105)* fixes this issue. After installing this update, the audio drivers for Windows XP 64-Bit Edition will successfully install.

Hey thanks for the fast responds, but I figured it out, I switched the port that the speakers were going into, before in xp it worked fine in the black hole but I stuck it into another hole the green colored one and now the sound is working fine, thank you!

Not sure why it was working in XP, only thing I can see is if it was set to 4.1 or 5.1 in the speaker settings; but the green jack has been the default color for the main/front speaker out for a long time.
