I have a very unfortunate issue(crash)

This is nolonger a problem as my LCD screen just broke(apparently, according to Dell). I will just buy a new screen and get the harddrive replaced.

Now for my other broken laptop:
I believe that the network drivers are broken(and have been told that as well). I put a drivers and utilities disk for my computer model, windows 7, and 64 bit in(the same as my computer) and the WiFi driver says that it's incompatible with my computer. This is indeed a problem; I need atleast one functioning computer.

Do you know what type of adapter is installed on that computer?

Can we get the hardware IDs if you do not know?

Start Menu -> Right click Computer -> Manage -> Device manager from the list on the left -> Right click any unknown devices -> Properties -> Details -> Hardware IDs under Property.

Alternatively:
Start Menu -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device manager -> Right click any unknown devices -> Properties -> Details -> Hardware IDs under Property.

Also, a screen shot of your device manager would help if you do not know what your network adapter type is.

Here is a post I made a while back on another forum with a lot of information:

Last sunday my laptop running windows 7 gave me a blue screen error which I dismissed. After I restarted and about 20 minutes into using it I could not connect to the Internet. I verified that the problem was my computer after attempting to connect to multiple wifi networks. It does connect but returns "Limited Access" when I hover over the current network. When I check the network status it shows that 0 packets are being sent and received. It also appears that the two network adapters in use are VMware. Should that be default for my computer? I only know VMware as the virtual machine I installed some time ago. The network diagnosis found that "There might be a problem with your network adapter and it's driver." or something along those lines. Do you think the blue screen error was due to a failure in one of my wireless network drivers/adapters? How do I fix this problem? I also did memory diagnostics and startup repair from my windows 7 disk which did nothing. The sfc /scannow completed and there were no integrity violations. My active connections are Hamachi, Local area connection(Broadcom virtual wireless adapter)(X), VMware1, VMware2, Wireless Network Connection(DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Hald-Mini Card), and Wireless Network Connection 2(Microsoft virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter)(X). The (X) means that there's a red X over the connection icon. Diagnosis for the first wireless network connection and local area connection showed that there was a problem with the driver for the adapter, which windows failed to repair. There was no diagnosis option for wireless network connection 2. It also appears that my Ethernet Controller and PCI Simple Communicatoons Controller are not installed, if that means anything. It showed that as an error when I attempted to update my network adapters(Device driver software was not successfully installed).

Crashdump: Free Cloud Storage - MediaFire

I was also told that the BSoD may have been caused by AVG(which Was updated a few minutes before the crash).

That link doesn't work; the crashdump is lost. I troubleshot the crash issue anyway, But I think it affected something with my network drivers too therefore my lack of Internet.

**************

Please do not post your e-mail for everyone to see...

I do not think Microsoft would like me providing the fix it files as a standalone application. If it was meant to be that way, they would have done so themselves. If you have a retail version of Windows 7, you could contact their support. You could also contact their support without the retail version, but it will be expensive to do so.

What I would recommend instead is to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html Windows 7.

Isn't fix-it public and free? I'mtont going to complain but what is the reason that you can't give me the individual files for disconnected computers :p(sorry if that sounded a bit rude).

Fix It is public and free, but it is internet based. Microsoft does not provide the full versions. If I were to do so, I would have to download the version you are using, run it, let it extract, search for the extracted files, which I believe end up in %SystemRoot%\Temp, and then figure out which ones are associated with the Fix It tool. This is a lot of work to do, and Microsoft probably would not be happy if I then uploaded the full version on here for anyone to use. If they wanted it available that way, they would have done so themselves.

I believe that you're talking about the browser version, Microsoft actually intended for people to do what I described.. But of course you might have missed it:

Advanced-Download to run on a different or disconnected computer
Click Download below, then click Run or Open in your browser and follow the onscreen prompts to create the Fix it Portable folder
Then copy the Fix it Portable folder to the computer with the problem and run the Launch Fix it application
Download

Yes, I did miss that. It is in pretty small writing and not the first thing I looked for. Why are you unable to do those steps on the computer you downloaded it to and put it on USB?

I cannot upload it to the forum, regardless. The file is too big, even compressed in a .zip file...

I got fix-it on my computer and it couldn't fix the two apparent issues:
Ethernet Controller doesn't have a driver
PCI Simple Communications Controller doesn't have a driver

What do?
