i need help

i don't know where this forum should be written.

but i was reading about tweaking things for win 7 computers with SSDs. i noticed that my PC had been using a lot of the SSD for information i felt should be saved on the HD. i read some forms and someone said that the C:USERS folder can simply be dragged to the HD so that everything is saved there. so i copied it onto my other HD and renamed it USERS2. unfortunately i noticed that this didnt and doesnt work and for some reason the USERS folder on my SSD has gotten renamed to USERS2 as well and the Catalyst Control Center application no longer works... i dont know how to fix it and im afraid that i might dig myself further into this mess. i would really appreciate some help with this issue.

However, if you're not quite sure of what you're doing, is it a good idea to mess with the drive in the first place?

There are 2 standard things I recommend for saving space on an SSD:

1. Get rid of the hiberfile because most people do not use hibernation. The command is powercfg -h off. That saves you as many GBs as the size of your RAM.

2. Place your user files (documents, pictures, music, etc.) on a HDD. There are 2 ways to do that:

a) you can move the default user folders to the HDD. This is NOT what I recommend.
b) create new folders for documents, pictures, music, etc. on the HDD, right click on those and INCLUDE them into the appropriate library. Then move your own stuff from the default folders to there. You will discover that this method has a variety of advantages.

every time i try to backup i get 'a shadow copy could not be created. please check vss and spp application event logs for more info... error code: 0x81000019

I quite agree with you, but my main concern was to try and stop you getting in any deeper and causing yourself unnecessary trouble.

Couldn't you simply rename the USERS2 folder back to USERS?
