Hello Everybody,
I was editing the windows boot screen, the program gave me an error and told me to give new winload.exe and bootres.dll, my crazy friend told me to rename winload.exe & bootres.dll to winload.exe.old & bootres.dll.old, and computer will automatically create new ones, but the computer won't boot anymore! I don't have a backup DVD! or anything to Restore!!
Someone told me make the windows boot from CD/DVD and then go to C:/Windows/System32/winload.exe.old & bootres.dll.old and rename them to winload.exe and bootres.dll and everything will be fine!
Is that true?
PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO FORMAT!!!!

Thanks all

Regards,

Hello Mate!

Try running Startup Repair http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html (Run it 3 times) and see if that fixes your problem.

Providing you can boot into Windows you could try a system restore to a point before you renamed these system files.

Providing you can boot into Windows you could try a system restore to a point before you renamed these system files.

No need to get Windows to boot to run System Restore,

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

Option #2. And if you don't have an actual Windows 7 disk (OEM computer that didn't come with one for example), you can make a system repair disk,

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2083-system-repair-disc-create.html

You're quite right, I was forgetting about using a system repair disc.

Thanks for the reminder.
