I'm sending my Lenovo Idea Pad to have my hard drive wiped because I'm unable to do it. My question is this..... Can I add more RAM to it? It has 4 gigs and I would like to add 4 gigs more.

What is the model number of your Idea Pad?

I have a question for you: Why are you sending it in to have the drive wiped? All you need to do to wipe the drive is to run the factory recover program from within Windows 7. That will wipe the drive and reinstall Windows 7 as it was when you first bought the computer. Or, you could do a format on the drive, which will wipe the drive. In other words, it is very easy to wipe the drive, so you don't need to pay someone to do that for you.

I think the Idea Pad is a 100 series. I bought it last year for my daughter to use for school. When I got it back, I noticed that the storage was almost full. So I did what you've suggested and the error message says I don't have enough space. I then go to manually delete unneeded items and it still will not rest. I've tried to reformat the HD and it was to no avail. That's why I needed to take it to a tech. Are there other ways to fix this problem? BTW, Its running Win10 Pro. Sorry, I should've mentioned that in the beginning.

This is a Windows 7 forum, not a Windows 10 forum. Probably the folks at Windows 10 Forums (https://www.tenforums.com/) could help you better than we can. But I'll help you if I can.

In order to help you, we need specific information. Such as, what is the model number? You said that you think it is a 100 series. The model number should be either stamped somewhere, or on a sticker. Probably on the bottom of the machine. And you need to be more specific than "100 series", which could be any one of seven different computers.

As far as wiping the drive, is that really what you want to do? If you do that, the computer will be nothing more than a paperweight, unless you reinstall the operating system. There should be a factory restore option, which will wipe the drive and reinstall the OS with all necessary drivers. That is your best option.

If you have the 110S or the 120S, then you have a tiny internal drive (either 32 GB or 64 GB of total space), barely big enough to run Windows 10, but likely too small to do any updates, which is a fundamental part of Windows 10. If you have one of these models, then you need to store everything (documents, pictures, etc.) on an external drive (e.g. a USB flash drive or an online drive), because there is literally no available space on the internal drive.

I found something interesting on the Lenovo website: in the description of the 110S, it says, "Plenty of memory and storage". They should have said "barely enough memory and storage", because this paperweight has "up to 32 GB storage" and "up to 2 GB DDR3 memory". I guess you get what you pay for, because it's only $179.99.

If I had this particular computer, I would wipe the drive and install Linux Mint xfce 32-bit. It would probably run adequately with Linux Mint. But how anyone with any integrity can sell this machine in its current configuration with Windows 10 Home installed, without putting a disclaimer to warn the user that it is way underpowered, is beyond me.
