Hi friends,
as a many users before me, I have problem with Internet Explorer 10 update via Windows Update. Everytime instalation ends with error 9C59. I've tried also to download last IE10 package from official sites, and install it, but with no success. So I've tried to remove already installed older update package with IE10, and then install this new package, but same problem.

Next step was installation of SURT, and try to update again. It also doesn't work. SFC Scan was ok.

Can anyone please help me with it?

Also please can any mod move this topic to Windows Update section? But I'm pretty sure, that I've started this thread in that section.

Hi guys,
thanks, but none of your tips solved my problem, and I don't want to do clean install of my system. It's not an option. :)

Interesting - there are no obvious errors in the SFC log. but there are some serious errors (as shown above) in the background CBS log.
Unfortunately, I cannot find either the cat file that's referred to, or the FACILITY_NTSSPI error in any of my notes - which means that I'm currently out of ideas, and suspect that a repair install may be your best option.

You're welcome to try it - but I have no real idea what the chances of success are.
That post was made more in desperation than anything else :)

The good news is that it won't do any harm!

Hi Noel,
I've finally figured it out. Package must be uninstalled via Windows package manager utility via command line:

1.) Navigate to C:\Windows\servicing\Packages via Windows Explorer
2.) Find files with names starting 'Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Package-TopLevel' mine are (Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Package-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.2.9200.16521 with suffixes *.mum and *.cat)
3.) Find newest of these files, and copy hash, architecture, version (simply everything after 'Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Package-TopLevel')

4.) Prepare commands for cmd:

Code:
pkgmgr /UP:Microsoft-Windows-IE-Hyphenation-Parent-Package-xx_XX~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.2.9200.16521
pkgmgr /UP:Microsoft-Windows-IE-Spelling-Parent-Package-xx_XX~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.2.9200.16521
pkgmgr /UP:Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-Package-TopLevel~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.2.9200.16521

5.) as you can see, we will need part with hash, architecture and version for few other commands. Also xx_XX in commands must be replaced by locale of your system (mine is cs_CZ, for american english en_US, etc...)
6.) run cmd as admin
7.) in cmd navigate to C:\Windows\servicing\Packages and run previously prepared commands one by one
8.) these commands should uninstall three components of IE via windows package manager.
9.) after it, go to IE 10 Download page, download proper version of IE for for system, and install it :)

Thank you for your help. :) And just to be fair. My inspiration was taken from this thread
