WiFi adapter finds no wireless networks. ends up with “No networks

I have Toshiba laptop and Win 7. It is brand new laptop and original windows. I tried to install AWUS036H and it was successful but unfortunately adapter doesn't detect any networks. It happened with my old laptop with Win 7(Acer) and I had to reinstall windows fresh and it worked. But I wouldn't like to do it again here. As you may see on picture internal adapter has X in corner and it is working but RTL8187 doesn't, it just says Enabled and nothing happens. No networks detecting. In device manager everything is fine, no yellow icons. Also it is not detected by my ipconfig/all command. The same thing happens in safe mode

Adapter is not broken, it is working on linux. This is image from win 8.1 but it happens on my Win 7

What driver is currently installed?

Try this

Download the latest ar956x driver from here:
https://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-download.php?chipset=83&system=5

Version: 10.0.0.297
Release: 2014-07-22 [July '14]
OS: Windows 7 32/64bit
Status: WHQL
File: win7-10.0.0.297-whql.zip (2585 KB)

Unzip the package and note the location
Uninstall the driver from the device in Dev mgr, remove software if presented (checkbox or prompt)
then update the driver from within Dev mgr using the unzipped inf file

Some reports on the Qualcom board indicate that you might have success with an earlier version 10.0.0.263, but I only see 10.0.0.255 then 10.0.0.270 on the site I linked.

Try the newest first , then the 255 (270 was the one the poster on Qualcom complained about)

Maybe the Toshiba site has a version that works. My method is to install the base or original driver from the PC OEM support page and work up if the peripheral board driver doesn't help solve the issue.

Please fill in your SevenForums specs so members can be more help - All I know is that you have a Toshiba laptop with Win7 on it.

Please don't waste your time typing the information in a post - place it in your system specs - then any time you create a thread, people can look at your machine specs in the lower left hand corner of any post.

Specific model information is important, there are usually many Satelltite models.

See the Easy specs link in my signature for a tool that makes it really easy.

Thanks

Ok, ooops on which device worked.

How about those system specs?

Also please follow this tutorial to provide the current operating environment of your machine.

Without some real information on the device, I can't determine which driver you might need. This is a fairly old device and it might take some fiddling to get it to work. I had to trick an old USB adapter by mucking around in the .INF file - but see if the straight driver 'update' works after you determine what the full device number is. You'll still want to uninstall the current driver / removing any software for the device so that it doesn't get re-installed the next time Device mgr scans for hardware changes.

There are three packages on the Realtek RTL8187downloads page
RTL8187B (Software)
RTL8187L (Software)
RTL8187SE (Software)

Thanks

thank you I will try to install one of those drivers. If it doesn't work I will just reinstall whole windows, it will be simpler.
It is weird because when I reinstall windows and I user the same drivers everything works

Better if you open your own thread for the issue on your machine. It's less confusing and better focus.

A bit of information about your machine will help a lot.

Please add your SF Systems Specs by following this tutorial: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html

  • In the System Manufacturer/Model Number field, manually type Desktop or Laptop adding it to the information already in the field.
The specific model number is important - there are often many models of a given series. For example, my machine is a HP Pavilion dv6, but there are tens of the dv6 series, so dv6-6c10us is the specific model.

  • Specify Custom Build as the manufacturer if it is not an OEM machine.

  • The tool does not fill in this information but it is very important if someone has to research drivers or hardware for your machine.
Log on to Sevenforums (SF) and let the tool fill in you System specs on your SF profile.

Full instructions are in the tutorial. It's a simple process and it makes that information readily available on your posts. You don't have to retype the information in any thread.

Click here to view your system specs on SevenForums.

Click on My System Specs in the lower left of any post by any member to see what is presented about their machine.

In the new thread, post# 1, please follow this tutorial to provide the current operating environment of your machine.
