IE Window size memory?

Every time I launch IE 8 (64-bit), it only opens up with half the window:

How do I get it to always open full length?

And, I don't want it to open up in full screen, just full length as in the second image. As it is now, every time I launch, I have to physically drag the lower portion of the window all the way down to the task bar.

Welcome

Go to the interent explorer icon right click >properties>short cut>run: maximized
You can get the IE icon by typing Internet Explorer in search.

If the window still open half size, make it full size, by expanding the 1/2 size, by dragging the edges to the 4 corners of the screen. It should be acceptable at that point. When it opens in the future, it should open to that size. In addition to close a window do not use the red X, go to file and then exit.
I will not be 100%, for some, that solution has not been found.

I am not surprised, everyone has a solution, but I have found none really work.

windows 7 doesn't remember size or position of any window after they are closed, only whether they are maximized or partial size

That is how it is suppose to work and it usually does, except when using a link that is found on a web page.

This drove me wild for a while.. Searched high and low for a solution. Finally purchased a little program called Window Manager. All is now well. Sizes and positions are now remembered. Free trial available on Softpedia.

I am glad that you found a way to size the windows.

I have found that if I just stretch it to the sides of the screen, and up and down then close the window, it will open at that size. It is at max even though, technically, it is not.

One thing that may be a problem is the Windows 7 Snap Automatically Maximize and Arrange Window. When i figured out that it will not save from any kind of auto resize it fixed the half page problem, I had it unpined from the task bar when I fixed the size problem so I dont know if that has any thing to do with it.

You can Disable it in the reg

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop

In the right-pane, double click (or right click and select Modify) on WindowArrangementActive, and set its REG_SZ value to 0.

Hope this helps out a few otheres out ther as for me I hated to ues a program to do this.

This has worked for me in the past. Try this. Open a webpage with links on it. Drag the corners until the page is maximized (don't use the maximize in upper right corner).

Choose a link on that webpage you opened, and right click that link, and choose open in a new window.

Drag the corners on that second window until the page is maximized (don't use the maximize in upper right corner).

Close the first window using the X in upper right corner. Now close the second window.

See if that doesn't work. If not, repeat the above, but when closing both windows, hold Ctrl and Shift keys while clicking the X. A Guy
