When I open up a link in Windows Live Mail or a link in another application, it opens up the link in 32 Bit Internet Explorer 9 instead of 64 Bit Internet Explorer 9 which is what I use. How do I make applications use Internet Explorer 9 to open up links instead of 32 bit. This all started after I installed Google Chrome and it became the default browser and then I uninstalled it and it set Internet Explorer 9 as the default again (which is what I wanted). Thge probelm is that I have Internet Explorer 64 bit pinned on the taskbar and applications use 32 Bit, so there are two Internet Explorer icons on the taskbar. Here is what happens:

All Win 7 64-bit computers come with 2 IE bit versions, 32 and 64.

It is best if you leave IE 9 32-bit as your default browser, because there are still some instances that 64-bit IE will not work. 32-bit IE is universal.

Until Microsoft have it all sorted out, use 32-bit IE version.

If I try to open IE 9 32 bit, it opens the 64 Bit version.

Sorry, you lost me.
You said that when you clicked on a link, it opened in IE9 32-bit version. Yes ?
You said IE9 32-bit appeared to be your default. Yes ?

Now how did you attempt to open IE9 32-bit ?
Did you go.... Start > All Programs > Internet Explorer ?

How did you know it was the 64-bit IE opened instead ?
If you click Help at the top of the Internet Explorer window > About Internet Explorer > what does the window say ?
Does it say 64-bit or does it say version : 9.0.8112.1642

Why not UN-pin IE9 64-bit from the taskbar ?

I Might have replied in a hurry and I have not make myself clear.....

I mean UN-opin all you IE icons from task bar > go to Start > All Programs > right click at Internet Explorer ( NOT the 64-bit ) > Pin to task bar.

Now please go to task bar and click at the newly pinned IE 9.

@windude: You're trying to get the 64bit IE9 to launch instead of the 32bit version when you click on a link, right?

This might help (ignore that it says Server / XP)

--> edit: You say it started when ..... but I have to ask, did the 64bit IE9 ever launch when you clicked on a link before?

I fixed the problem! I went to Turn Windows Features on and off and turned off Internet Expolorer 9 and Rebooted. Then, I reenabled Interrnet Explorer 9 and rebooted again. Now, everything works correctly. Thanks for your help!
