You'll need to go to Nvidia's website and download the 64-bit graphics driver for it to show. That's assuming Windows Update can't find it automatically.

It's a Moble Graphics card...

Basically what you got is a laptop on a stand that's using a 9400M graphics card which is a Mobile card so you need to download the mobile graphics driver for it. ;)

They only offer Vista 32bit on OS support!
So I'd try the Nvidia 64bit driver above... ;)

that means I can't use more than 3 gb of ram because 32 bit version can't handle it

Before you give up, after all you did get W7 64 bit to INSTALL and start even if Dell does not support it, have you updated your BIOS and Chipset to the latest?

P.S. 32 bit is liited to 3.2-3.4 GB addressable memory depending on who you ask .

P.S.S. Download Everest Ultimate (trial version). Install and run it to see what it reports your hardware (MOBO, video card, etc are)

Hi anthonynkus, welcome to the forums.

You could try this.
   Note
You may need to download the drivers from nVidia in ZIP format & extract to a folder

Open Device Manager right click the 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter' then 'Update Driver Software...'. Next, click 'Browse my computer for driver software' and browse to the folder you previously extracted the files to, then click on an INF file. You may have the choice of display adapter, just choose the 1 you have.

This should then start the installation process for the GFX driver.

Hope this helps :)

it depends on how much memory your gpu has.... its 4gb *addressable* memory which means everything that reserves primary memory (GPU, RAM, ect) pools from this 4gb and shares it..

Compare the chipset number and date at Dell to what you have now. Cupid should give you the current chipset version. If the one at dell is more recent, upgrade it.

Actually It sees all of it but usually uses 3.3gigs of 5 unless your mobo, bios, cpu handles extended mem space.

Well.... I did a quick check. It could be a moot point. Dell lists the maximum memory for your MOBO at 4GB (2x2GB) am I correct?

IF that is correct your benefits in running 64 Bit may be limited. Specifically, you will not be able to gain the benefit of addressable memory > 4GB.

I would imagine it zips along pretty well with W7, 64 bit or not 64 bit, doesn't it?

Considering all Dell supports for your system is 32 bit, this seems to be your only option. Still don't know why that is... :sarc:
But at least you'll be able to install the drivers for your graphics card as that's the only drivers they list & support are 32bit.
