Hey, I've read the whole thread but no one seams to have the problem I'm having. I'm trying to format my Spica mp3 player but I can't. It's sytem is FAT.
I followed the instructions but after typing "convert e: /fs:ntfs" in the command prompt I got this message: "CONVERT is not available for RAW units". I'm translating cause my PC is in spanish, but that's what it says.

I've also tried simply formatting it (all the data I had on it has already been lost) but it doesn't let me do that either.
I'm not really savvy in this computer stuff, if you haven't noticed haha, and I'd really appreciate your help :)

I don't know spica but why would you want to format to NTFS so bad?
How big is that device? 4GB? 8GB?
I don't think you would see any advantage in having an MP3 player formatted NTFS over FAT32
Check if there is a switch somewhere that turns the device read only.
Besides there are MP3 players out there (usually the small ones shaped like a USB stick) that don't allow for a format because you would overwrite the "operation system" and the device would be reduced to a simple USB stick.

It's the mp3 I have for everyday use and I want to format it cause it doesn't accept any of the new music I'm trying to load it with (the music I downloaded on the PC with Windows 7).
It doesn't have any switch that I can see, maybe it's internal? It's not shaped like a USB stick, more like an ipod nano, the square ones.
I've formatted it twice and after the first time it worked fine, cept when I tried loading new music.

All I seem to find for Spica are Samsung cellphones. So I'm afraid I'm not of much help here.
Do you have a format option from inside the player (via some sort of menu) ? Sometimes those devices require/expect a certain directory structure (like certain SD-Cards for cameras) which will usually not be created by windows format.

I don't think I have, no.
Once I formatted it I just put all the music in a folder called Music and I had it when I turned it on.
Thanks for the help
