Solved Image your system with free Macrium

It's definitely there, at least in Macrium v4.2 - I also have the full registered version but didn't upgrade to v5.0 yet - but I can't imagine they'd take the verify option out of v5.0.

Hello Corazon,
You wouldn't think so even on the free version. I'll dig around. Thanks for your time and reply!

WAIK? No version of Macrium Reflect needs the WAIK.

The WinPE rescue disc is a relatively quick 100MB download that you get by buying a license for the full version (4.2 or 5.0). It's licensed from Microsoft so you're only allowed to download it once, or you have to pay a small fee to get another download.

After that it's just a matter of running it which expands some files that the Reflect app will then directly burn to CD. No fussing around required, though you can add your own drivers for disks and networking.

Free versions of Reflect don't offer the WinPE rescue disc to you.

.
To make the pe disk using the trial V5 you need it and Macrium will assist in it's download when making the pe disk. You don't need to do this with the bought version. It must be some licensing related issue.

So very wrong in many ways.

1. This topic is about FREE Macrium so the purchase of a license is not relevant to the discussion ;
2. The Licensed UPGRADE at reduced cost only gave Linux (perhaps BartPE) but for WinPE the WAIK was used.
3. Both the Free versions provide support for use of WAIK if the user wants WinPE

Essenbe, Hello and thank you. Even in the tutorial it shows verify off. After searching, I found an option for verify on restore. I am not sure I understand this switch. I want to verify the system image before I bother saving it, while the system is running o.k. Maybe someone had an idea or opinion on the change.

Hello alan10,
Since I have it on my admin account, I will guess and say that it is the freeware upgrade. I have had and use Macrium reflect as a backup to Paragon. Yes, I quess very paranoid. I did a filehippo check for new programs and Reflect 5.0 came up and I downloaded it. It is limited. But it is also different than the previous version. I found the verify on the restore with verify option. I don't understand.....
Thanks
Glenn

Hey Corazon,
When I downloaded and install the free 5.0 and decided to create a new rescue disk it is built in to download 1.6 GB WAIK and add it to the rescue disk to run it from WindowsPE. I know because I did it. I used to run Macrium under the linux system. Changed for some reason. Still wondering why the won't let you verify until
you are restoring.....
Thanks again for your assistance!

Hello to All,
This may not be the place to ask the question, but it looks the closest. I apologize in advance. I just installed the upgraded Macrium Reflect with the new WAIK download to get a restore disk. When running the system image, I was unable to locate the verify system image option. Did I just miss it or did they remove it??
Thanks for any assistance!

Thanks kado897,
You have confirmed what I have found, thanks. What I don't understand is that when I do a system image backup on a perfectly working system, it is at that point that I want to verify that the backup system image is verified to the correct image. Maybe I am slow, but I don't see the point of verifying the backup system image, to a broken image that you now NEED to restore. Sorry if I am missing something obvious. But please explain if possible. Appreciate your help!

It is still there in advanced settings when you create or edit the backup.

:o OK, so I was wrong...I didn't know the free Macrium would even let you put a WinPE disk together by using the WAIK, I always had the impression it only came with the Linux CD and BartPE plugin. I felt sure about this too. :o

Hello,
I am using the non-commercial freeware 64-bit version and I can not find the page you show. Mine will allow verifying the filesystem before backing up to a system image, but no verification of the backed up system image to the actual data. Confused!
Still can't understand verifying the data during a restore??
Thank you for your help! Any ideas???

I am using the PRO version but even so I am surprised. In the PRO version it is on the second image definition screen. The one before you press Finish.

I get confused easily between 'restore' and 'backup' copies of my computer. When I make a whole backup,I do it for JUST the data on my computer, mostly photos. I tried to do a System Image but 250 GB Iomegga wasn't big enough. My D: recovery disk is almost totally full, and I just cannot use it. I don't know how to delete anything on it either. I have a nice clean running, virus-free computer right now, with all shadowfiles gone (except for whatever is on that D:) ...and I would LIKE to make a system image of EVERYTHING on my computer now but ... I really am not sure HOW! Suggestions ? The Iomegga is too small, I guess but are there websites that offer storge that are trustworthy? I'min the Bush of Alaska and am out of DVDs (got a few 700 MB CDs around) so I can't just "pop in" anything! It'll be a week or so before I get any freight in. Thanks!

I think you are talking about Windows imaging if I'm right? This thread is about Macrium imaging but no matter. Based on what you say you probably want some advice on online backup facility for North America. Unfortunately I can't help here but if someone doesn't notice your thread stick it in the main Backup & Restore section.
You will need a decent bandwidth data link for this to be worthwhile.
