Install Windows 7 on Dell XPS 9343

boot.wim and install.wim are in the installation media "sources" folder.

I suggest you extract the floppy zip file from my previous post into a folder called c:\drivers

I suggest you extract those other two zip files into a folder called c:\packages,. They are .msu files. Also put the other .msu file in the c:\packages folder.

Next you create a folder c:\mount.

Use this gui to help: View attachment Dism7v4.zip





Click "SOURCE WIM" button and browse to your boot.wim file

Click "MOUNT DIRECTORY" button and Browse to c:\mount

Type IMG: 2

Click "MOUNT IMAGE" button

When it has mounted

Click the "ADD PACKAGE FOLDER" button and browse to c:\packages

When it has completed

Click the "ADD DRIVER FOLDER" button and browse to c:\drivers.

When it has completed

Click "OPEN MOUNT DIR"- that will open a window on your c:\mount directory. Copy the "sources folder" from your c:\mount directory into your installation media - it should overwrite the existing sources folder with the newly updated files. Close the window of your c:\mount directory.

Click "UNMOUNT-COMMIT".

Click "CLEANUP" (optional)

Then you mount install.wim IMG: 4 ( remember to type 4 where it says img: ) to the c:\mount folder, add the c:\packages folder and c:\drivers folder as above, and Unmount-commit.

That's all folks.

I have made a batch file to update win7 installation media for skylake and similar.

1. Copy your installation media to your hard drive.

2. Extract the UPDATEWIN7.zip to your hard drive so you have C:\UPDATEWIN7 folder

3. Extract the DRIVERSx64.zip and UPDATESx64.zip to UPDATEWIN7 folder

4. Rt click and run as Administrator on the Update-win7v5.cmd file



It will update boot.wim, winre.wim and your selected image from install.wim
