I was on a scan website and it was saying that the sabertooth 990fx R1 is Windows 8 Ready i thought only R2 was Windows 8 Ready

Windows 8 is heavily designed for touch screens. I would wait for it to advance then jump, W7 is such a solid performer but of course purchase the upgrade now discounted and then maybe run a dual boot and do a trial run with 8 I think you'll come running back to 7......me thinks! Regarding your mobo it's ready to go for 8 if you want and heck it will likely handle W9 or W10....lol......that's a great board !
