Hi,

Can you install 64bit programs outside of the C:\Program Files directory, and will they still work correctly i.e as a 64bit application ?

It seems to be implied that by having a Program Files and Program Files (86), that 64bit programs will only work in that folder, but I can't find any reference on the web that explains this one way or another.

Any one out there that knows ?

TIA

Damo

Hi zigzag3143,

Thanks for the welcome and reply.

Well I have always kept games and apps separate since I can remember, and on a separate partition.
Mainly because games tend to do a lot of extracting of texture and level data files and this frags up the drive a lot, so I keep them away from the OS and program files (which once installed don't tend to expand and contract so much)

So If I can carry on with this convention and run the 64bit games from my games folder, I will be a happy chap :)

Cheers

Damo
