Installing applications from a different partition

I have attempted installing applications from a non windows partition, however 7-zip keeps throwing up errors regarding the TEMP folder etc. E.g.

cannot open file as archive
cannot create temp folder archive
cannot find archive

however the files run fine from my C:\.

I have tried running the exe as administrator and in Vista/XP compat. mode but still no luck.

TMP and TEMP in my environment vars are:

'%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Temp

and that directory does exist.

Anyone else come across this problem and know a solution. For the time being, I have been copying the files from the downloads folder on my non-windows parition to my C:\ and they have been running fine from there.

No. I have been installing apps from my external non system drive just fine. I'm using the latest version of winrar though.

(OT: Btw, one very cool feature of winrar (I don't know if other archive apps have this) is that when installing you can easily tell winrar to "update only" and not to notify about overwriting and these two settings allow me to update some apps without having to reconfigure and renenter any info. Works especially well for updating to the latest beta versions of Everest Ultimate which come out almost every couple of days.)

No problems installing apps from a second HDD, i'm using Winrar also, give that a try and see how you get on.

I'm using 7zip 4.64 (64 bit version) and have been installing and unpacking compressed files from other partitions and drives without any problems.
